Dr. James Lee is a board certified and fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, corneal transplants, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, external diseases of the eye and LASIK surgery.
Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate degree at the John Hopkins University and completed his medical degree at the University of Illinois. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Cook County hospital in Chicago and did a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the University of Arizona. He has been actively involved in basic science and clinical research. His research at Johns Hopkins University lead to discovery of a new gene and was published in major academic journals. Dr. Lee has also participated in clinical trials in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal surgery, and microbiology involving the eye. He has presented this research at the major ophthalmology conferences.
Dr. Lee grew up in Illinois, and has worked in Illinois and Arizona before moving to Colorado Springs and started the Lee Eye Institute in 2007. His goal is to practice medicine utilizing the latest technology and with the latest surgical technique, to ensure every patient is receiving the highest standard of care. He also strives that patients that are seen in his office are treated with the utmost respect.

Dr. Patel is a board certified, fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic and facial surgery. She treats eyelid disorders, blocked tear ducts, dry eyes, diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
Dr. Patel completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and then went on to complete internship at Mt. Sinai/Cabrini in New York City. She finished Ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago. Her Oculoplastics fellowship was at Wayne State University. Dr. Patel has published basic science research from a research fellowship in London and most recently submitted a publication on eyelid burns from her experiences at a major academic burn center. She was Co-Director of Oculoplastic Surgery at Loyola University Medical center where she taught ophthalmology residents and medical students. She has also co-authored a book chapter and was recently the ophthalmologist for a college basketball team.
Dr. Patel’s goal is to make every patient understand more about his or her eyes and treat everyone with value and courtesy. She strives to always inform herself of the most recent techniques to ensure her patients are receiving the best care. She is easy to approach to ask any question.
