Lifestyle Lenses

Because we strive to bring only the best in eye care to our patients in the Colorado Springs area, we use the most advanced implants available including: Toric IOL, Aspheric IOL and Crytalens. There is an option for those wishing to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after cataract surgery. Premium lens technology can give a full range of vision in comparison to the traditional lenses used in cataract surgery that only provide vision correction for distance.

The first and only FDA-approved accommodating intraocular lens

• The only FDA-approved intraocular lens that uses the natural focusing ability of the eye.
• The only FDA-approved presbyopia correcting IOL for cataract patients that provides a single focal point throughout a continuous range of vision.

The effectiveness of Crystalens was proven in clinical trials:

• Significantly more patients implanted with a Crystalens (88.4%) could see better at all distances than patients implanted with a standard IOL (35.9%).
• Most patients have continued to report excellent vision 7 years after implantation with Crystalens. More than 200,000 Crystalens implants have been implanted worldwide, and that number is growing daily.

Crystalens accommodates like the natural lens. After implantation of Crystalens, most patients will see brighter and clearer from distance, intermediate to near like they did when they were younger.

ReSTOR

Introducing a breakthrough in vision surgery. Now there's a revolutionary new way to potentially leave your glasses behind forever – the innovative AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® intraocular lens (IOL), the latest advancement in cataract surgery technology. The AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL has been uniquely designed to provide enhanced image quality and a full range of vision – up close, far away and everything in-between – giving cataract patients the best opportunity to live life free of glasses.

How does the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL work?

As we perform daily activities such as reading, watching television or working at the computer, our eyes are constantly focusing on objects at varying distances – up close, far away and in-between. The ability to quickly change focus throughout our range of vision is called accommodation.

Unfortunately, we begin to lose this ability as we grow older1, gradually becoming more and more dependent on bifocals or reading glasses.

Thankfully, by combining the strengths of apodized diffractive and refractive technologies, the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL can now provide quality near, intermediate and distance vision, and increased independence from reading glasses or bifocals. And now, with the addition of proven aspheric technology, the AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® IOL takes the advancements one step further, for a lens with enhanced image quality and clarity.

Toric

For cataract patients with astigmatism, successful cataract surgery is only half the battle toward regaining quality vision.

Until recently, the only viable vision correction options for astigmatism correction after cataract surgery were eyeglasses or contact lenses, both of which are not only inconvenient in terms of lifestyle, but can also be expensive over a lifetime.

The advanced technology behind the AcrySof® IQ Toric Intraocular Lens (IOL) offers a combined solution, not only replacing your cataract-clouded natural lens for clear vision, but also correcting corneal astigmatism, so you can see in focus.

Is there cost associated with Premium Lens Technology?

The bulk of cataract surgery costs are typically covered by insurance, including fees for anesthesia, surgery center, staffing, supplies and the surgeon’s fee. Premium Lens implants are considered an upgrade and therefore are not covered by Medicare or any other insurance. This adds some out-of-pocket cost.
