James Lee, MD

Dr. James Lee is a board certified and fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, corneal transplants, glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, external diseases of the eye and LASIK surgery.

Dr. Lee is originally from Illinois. He completed his undergraduate degree at the John Hopkins University studying molecular biology. He was actively involved in academic research at the John Hopkins School of Medicine and his research work was published in a major academic journal as a primary author. He then went to study medicine and graduated from the University of Illinois College of medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology in Chicago at Cook County hospital. After completion of his residency, Dr. Lee continued his education at the University of Arizona. He participated in numerous research projects involving refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal surgery, and microbiology involving the eye and his works have been presented in various ophthalmology conferences.

Dr. Lee left Arizona to return home and practiced in a large multi-specialty group practice in Springfield, Illinois for several years before moving to Colorado Springs. He prides in utilizing the latest technologies and surgical techniques. Dr. Lee started the Lee Eye Institute in 2007 to practice medicine where every patient is treated with the utmost respect and highest standard of care.

Dr. Lee lives in Colorado Springs with his wife and daughter. He enjoys many outdoor recreational activities, traveling, reading novels, and playing the piano. But his favorite pastime is being anywhere with his family.
